Actor Adam Sandler last week let the world know that Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce would appear in the upcoming movie, “Happy Gilmore 2.”

On Wednesday, Kelce welcomed Sandler to his New Heights podcast and they discussed the film and, of course, singer Taylor Swift.

Sandler revealed that he initially had a special role in mind for Kelce.

“The whole thing was to get to hang out with Travis. That’s why we put it together,” Sandler joked. “We’re going there (to New Jersey to film the movie). Travis, by the way, thank you, I heard you talking about (the movie) on your show, you guys.

“We were talking about you playing my son while we were writing it, literally, like six months ago. We were like, imagine if Travis was my first baby, how funny that would be. Just a badass.”

That would have been fun to see, but it sounds like Kelce will have more of a cameo role in the film.

“Travis, we’re gonna have fun, because the scene you’re doing is with so many great golfers,” Sandler said. “It’s gonna be amazing. You’re gonna be funny as hell.

“The movie itself, it just picks up from an older guy who’s played golf a long time. Some stuff goes on in his life. He’s different. Things are, he’s a bit of a mess when you meet Happy and then we kind of try to get his his life cooking again.”

Kelce said he practiced the Happy Gilmore swing after learning he would be in the movie.

“I was like, man, you know what, I’ve just got to do a ceremonial one,” Kelce said. “And I ripped it. It felt so good, dude.”

Sandler loves the Kelce-Swift romance

Later in the podcast, Sandler said his wife and two daughters were thrilled when it became public knowledge that Kelce was dating Swift.

“By the way, what a girl. What a girl,” Sandler said of Swift. “Dude, she means so much to our house.”

Sandler said he was shooting a movie in Massachusetts and the daughters were listening to Taylor Swift.

“It was one of the first times that you listen to every song on the record, like when I was a kid. I think the Beatles, you did that with maybe Elton John, when you do every tune,” Sandler said. “It’s not like three hits and you go, all right, let me skip it. Taylor, in our house, every tune they knew every word. I loved listening to her in the car. I love what she had to say, every message, every melody, just the deduction, how cool she was, what she meant to young girls, what she means to women, what she means to guys doing the right thing in life.”

Sandler recounted how Swift always took time to talk with his girls when they would cross paths at movie premieres or at “Saturday Night Live.”

“She just floors my family, floors them,” Sandler said. “Somebody asked me, ‘Who do you get nervous around?’ I said, I do get nervous around Taylor Swift because I don’t want to blow it in front of my kids and say something stupid. I’m just like (dang), she means so much to my house, I better say the right thing here.

“You being together and ... when you guys first started dating, my God was my family like, ‘Yes! Look how good they are together. He’s a gentleman, and she’s having so much fun with it.’ Like, any time Taylor’s laughing with you, my whole family’s like high-fiving.”
