Patrick Mahomes will not play this weekend.
The Kansas City Chiefs are resting their star quarterback and other starters for the season finale at the Denver Broncos. Backup quarterback Carson Wentz will start for KC in a game that the Broncos will be looking to win.
A victory for Denver could mean a chance at the playoffs. The Chiefs have already secured the No. 1 seed in the postseason — and the home field advantage that comes with it.
Columnist Sam McDowell digs into why the Chiefs sitting starters is both a luxury and a worry for Kansas City.
Kickoff is Sunday at 3:25 p.m. Central. The game will be broadcast by CBS, KCTV (Channel 5) in Kansas City, and KWCH (Channel 12) in Wichita.
