Chiefs fan and WNBA star Caitlin Clark reveals her special invitation from Taylor Swift

Does Taylor Swift have a new sports team to cheer for now?

Taylor Swift, WNBA fan?

Hey, it could happen, and if it does, don’t be surprised if Swift, who just wrapped up her record-breaking Eras Tour on Sunday, shows up at an Indiana Fever game in Indianapolis.

Time magazine on Tuesday named Fever guard and WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark its 2024 Athlete of the Year.

The magazine interviewed Clark after she attended back-to-back Eras Tour shows in early November at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

She met Travis Kelce there and Swift’s mother, Andrea Swift, too. But she didn’t get to meet Swift.

“Got to meet Caitlin, she’s awesome,” Kelce said later, calling Clark a “Swiftie through and through.”

Clark described the concert experience to Time, how Swifties who saw her sitting in a stadium suite took pictures and tossed friendship bracelets at her.

“People are just going crazy that I’m there,” she told Time. “I thought people would be so in their own world, ready to see Taylor. And it was just completely the opposite.”

She also revealed that Swift gave her four bags of Eras Tour merchandise with a note saying Clark was inspiring to watch from afar.

Swift wrote that “Trav and I” were excited to attend a Fever game, and Swift invited Clark to attend a Chiefs game with her, Clark told Time.

If that happens, it would hardly be Clark’s first visit to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Clark, who grew up in Iowa in a family full of Chiefs fans, is a longtime member of Chiefs Kingdom and proudly tells people she is not a bandwagon fan.

(She will be in Kansas City on Feb. 4 as the latest featured guest at the WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards banquet at T-Mobile Center.)

Growing up in West Des Moines, Sundays were for watching Chiefs games in the Clark home.

“That’s what I really looked forward to most on Sundays … we would be watching the Chiefs,” Clark has said. “… and I would be upset if they lost and I still am. Like every Sunday that’s what (is) usually the brightest part of my day is turning on the TV and watching the Chiefs.”

Somewhere, Mama Clark has videos of her wearing a kid-size Chiefs helmet.

Now, Chiefs fans, Chiefs players and even the team itself cheers for her.

She continues to cheer for Kansas City on social media, her latest tweet coming on Sunday after the Chargers win.

Clark was in the stadium on Christmas Eve 2022 when the Chiefs beat Seattle 24-10 in one of the coldest games at Arrowhead, thanks to “my guy” Chris Jones hooking her up with tickets.

She was back at Arrowhead last Christmas, watching the team warm up from the sidelines and later watching the game in a suite not far from Swift, though they didn’t get to meet then.

The Chiefs play on Christmas day again this year.

Hint, hint, Taylor.
