Happy Pride Month, Kansas City.
Has a loved one recently shared their LGBTQ identity with you? Are you a little confused by seeing gender pronouns in your coworkers’ email signatures? Are you a queer person looking for fun community events and gathering spots in Kansas City? The Star’s KCQ team may be able to help.
This Pride Month, we’re answering your questions from across the metro about LGBTQ culture, identities and resources in Kansas City and beyond. Our KCQ spinoff series, which we’re calling KCQueer, will respond to real reader questions throughout the month of June.
All your questions will be 100% anonymous, and no question is too embarrassing. Whether you’re a queer person looking for affirming resources, or think you’ve never met a member of the LGBTQ community before, we want to hear from you.
We don’t have all the answers: That’s why we’ve assembled a team of local LGBTQ experts to help answer your questions. Our partners have a broad range of knowledge about LGBTQ health, culture, business, crisis resources, gatherings and much more.
Our team is still being assembled, but it includes these local leaders:
Starzette Palmer, President of the KC Pride Community Alliance
Emily Ferrarini, Interim Center Coordinator for the KC Center for Inclusion
Dr. Craig Dietz, Chief Medical Officer for KC Care Health Center
Moon Glasgow Brown, Chair of the LGBTQ Commission of Kansas City
Col. Suzanne Wheeler, Executive Director of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce
Submit your questions to the form below or email them to kcq@kcstar.com, we’ll do our best to answer them and will write stories inspired by the questions throughout June.
