Super Bowl Sunday temp in KC nears record high, but we’ll be back to reality Tuesday

Now is the time to get outside with unseasonably warm temperatures rolling through Kansas City this weekend.

Saturday’s high is 51, according to FOX4 meteorologist Alex Countee.

“We’re holding onto that sunshine,” said Countee, who provided The Star with a look at the forecast. “It’ll be a warm one.”

The high on Super Bowl Sunday reaches 67 degrees, which will near the Feb. 2 record of 69.

Monday’s high is 58 before a cool front starts to move in.

“That’ll throw more clouds our way and some cooler temperatures as well as potentially some rain shows,” Countee said. “That’s mainly going to be for Monday night.”

Kansas City comes back to reality Tuesday when the high drops to 32 degrees with freezing rain in the morning that switches to snow in the afternoon.

“A good chance of some sort of wintry weather happening that day, wrapping up Wednesday morning,” Countee said.

The weather the rest of the week rebounds to more seasonable winter temperatures.
