Storms expected again Saturday in Miami, but forecast looks good for Super Bowl LIV
After a week of idyllic weather in Miami, torrential rains hit the area on Friday night.
There was a severe thunderstorm warning and flood advisory into the overnight hours in Miami-Dade County.
The National Weather Service is predicting more rain and thunder Saturday but the inclement weather is expected to move out by 7 p.m. with the skies gradually clearing.
On Sunday, the forecast for Super Bowl LIV between the Chiefs and 49ers is nearly perfect: a high temperature of 69 degrees under sunny skies, the National Weather Service predicted, and the temperatures at night will drop to 54.
Here are other forecasts for the game:
Steve McLaughlin of NBC 6 in Miami said during Saturday’s broadcast: “Humidity gets wiped out, lots of sunshine, figure kickoff temperatures about 66 degrees at 6:30 p.m., but temperatures falling through the 60s throughout the game. So if you are headed to the Super Bowl, bring a sweatshirt, bring a light jacket, it’s going to get chilly out there.”
CBS4’s Lissette Gonzalez in Miami said on Saturday’s broadcast: “Tomorrow will be spectacular for the Super Bowl. We’ll wake up to the 50s in the morning, which will be chilly and then we’ll see those highs in the low 70s with pleasant sunshine. Just perfect. And as we head into game time, we’re going to be enjoying cooler 60s and as we head into late tomorrow night, lows will be falling to the 50s. ... Tomorrow will just be a stunning day to enjoy the big game.”
Weather.com shows a high of 70 degrees on Sunday and a low of 52.
Erika Delgado of News 7 in Miami said during Saturday morning’s broadcast: “We’ll get all that rain out they way today. Front clears all that moisture out and then just in time for the Super Bowl Sunday, we’ll be talking plenty of sunshine and temperatures only reaching the lower 70s.”
