Detectives were searching for Sanchez-Munoz in connection to a shooting that occurred on June 11, Officer Carlos Ulloa, a spokesperson for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department said in a news release.
Just before 6:30 p.m. on June 11, a vehicle was struck by gunfire around Seventh Street and Metropolitan Avenue, in Kansas City Kansas’ Shawnee Heights neighborhood, Ulluoa said. An adult and a child were inside.
After interviewing witnesses and utilizing the department’s Real Time Intelligence Crime Center, investigators identified the suspected shooter as Sanchez-Munoz before issuing a metro-wide officer safety alert, Ulloa said.
During the string of shootings Tuesday, KCK investigators “recognized that the suspect description from those incidents closely matched the suspect involved in the Kansas City, Kansas, shooting.” Ulloa said.

Authorities consider him to be armed and dangerous.

Independence standoff
Investigators later located Sanchez-Munoz at an Independence home Tuesday night, where police initiated a standoff. The home eventually caught fire, prompting the Independence Fire Department to respond.
The home, in the 700 block of South Brookside Avenue, was thought to be Sanchez-Munoz’s primary residence. The home caught fire around midnight Wednesday. The man was not located during the initial standoff.
Wednesday night, a second standoff was initiated when detectives received information leading them to a home near 16th Street and Kensington Avenue. The standoff lasted overnight, and ended after investigators entered the home and did not locate Sanchez-Munoz inside.
