Johnson County woman convicted in fentanyl death of pregnant woman, unborn child

A Roeland Park woman has been convicted in the Christmas Eve death of a pregnant woman and her unborn child in 2023, according to news release from the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office.

As part of plea agreement, Izabel Reed, 26, pleaded no contest in Johnson County District Court Wednesday to two counts of distribution of drugs causing a death in connection with the death of 31-year-old Alexandrea Hunter and her unborn child on Dec. 24, 2023, in Roeland Park.

Reed was initially charged in May 2026, but those charges were amended last fall and included one count of first-degree murder, one count of distribution of drugs causing a death, four counts of distribution of drugs, including fentanyl methamphetamine, and two counts of use of a communication device in a drug crime.

As part of her plea agreement, prosecutors amended the charges to two counts of distribution of drugs causing a death. The remaining charges were dismissed.

Reed is scheduled to be sentenced at 11:15 a.m. April 1. She faces a maximum of 25 years in prison, according to the plea agreement.

Also charged in connection with Hunter’s death is 26-year-old Nicholas D. Gregg of Roeland Park. He faces one count of first-degree murder, one count of distribution of drugs causing a death, four counts of distribution of drugs, including fentanyl methamphetamine, and two counts of use of a communication device in a drug crime.
