Man found shot to death inside vehicle after police notice it sitting at KC intersection
Kansas City police found a man shot to death inside a vehicle near an intersection Tuesday.
Officers were patrolling near Indiana Avenue and East 30th Street when they noticed a vehicle stopped in the road facing oncoming traffic. Officers found a man inside the vehicle unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokesperson with the Kansas City Police Department, said in an email.
Paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting, Gonzalez said. They are also working to identify a possible suspect. As of Tuesday, no one has been identified or taken into custody, Gonzalez said.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel were gathering evidence and collecting witness statements.
This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing, Gonzalez said.
The killing is Kansas City’s 8th homicide of 2025, according to data maintained by The Star. At this time last year, the city had recorded two homicides.
