A 33-year-old man died in a shooting during a disturbance Wednesday night in Kansas City, a police spokesman said.

The victim was identified as Michael Dehaan, said Sgt. Phil DiMartino with the Kansas City Police Department.

At about 8:45 p.m., officers responded to a reported shooting in the 3300 block of East Linwood Boulevard, on the border of Kansas City’s Santa Fe and Oak Park Northwest neighborhoods.

Arriving officers found Dehaan suffering from a gunshot wound. DiMartino said emergency medical workers took Dehaan to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives and crime scene investigators interviewed witnesses and collected evidence to determine what led up to the shooting.
