Man shot at Kansas City apartments dies at hospital; Police investigate homicide
Police are investigating a homicide after a shooting early Thursday at the East Hills Village Apartments in Kansas City, according to police.
Officers responded just before 3 a.m. to the apartments in the 7600 block of Monroe Avenue and found a man who had been shot, said Capt. David Jackson, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.
Officers began CPR and rendered First Aid. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours later, Jackson said.
“The initial investigation indicates that this is kind of an ongoing feud among people who live in a specific apartment,” Jackson said.
It was not clear if the shooting occurred inside or just outside of the apartment, he said.
Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives were at the apartments collecting evidence and looking for witnesses.
No suspect information was immediately available. The victim has not yet been publicly identified.
There is up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
The killing is Kansas City’s 50th homicide of the year. Kansas City ended last year with 182 homicides, the most in the city’s history in a single year, according to data maintained by The Star.
