1,109 crimes were reported in Kansas City in one week. How many were in your area?

There were more than 1,100 crimes reported in Kansas City the week of April 26, a slight increase of nearly 5% from the previous week, according to a Kansas City Star crime map created with city data.

Non-aggravated domestic assaults led the list with 117 incidents reported between April 26 and May 2. That’s more than 10 percent of the 1,109 total crimes reported for the week.

The next categories of crime reported included 113 aggravated assaults, 88 property damage crimes and 61 non-aggravated assaults, according to the data.

Other top reported crimes included 57 for both auto thefts and stealing classified as “other,” and 52 stealing from an automobile. Police also responded to 48 aggravated domestic violence assaults and residential burglaries and 43 shoplifting calls.

There were 1,057 crimes reported the previous week starting April 19.
