Woman killed, infant seriously injured in I-70 wreck near stadiums

A woman was killed and an infant was seriously injured Tuesday night in a crash off Interstate 70, police said.

LaShonda C. Johnson, 38, was driving a Chevrolet sedan eastbound on the exit ramp from the highway when it collided with an Oldsmobile sedan headed south just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 3900 block of Blue Ridge Cutoff, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Johnson died at the crash scene. Her 2-month-old son in the vehicle with her was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said Wednesday morning. The other driver was not injured.

Police said the child was in stable condition by Wednesday afternoon.
