One person arrested after SUV with 9-month-old child inside was stolen in Merriam

One person was arrested Wednesday after someone stole a vehicle that had a baby inside, according to Merriam police.

The incident was reported shortly before 9 a.m. in the 5100 block of Merriam Drive, where an Acura SUV containing a nine-month-old child had been taken.

Merriam police said the vehicle was found abandoned about 20 minutes later in the 1800 block of State Line Road. The baby was still inside the SUV and wasn’t harmed.

A second driver who had followed the stolen vehicle was identified and arrested, Merriam police said Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect who stole the SUV with the child in it, described as a man in his late 20s, hasn’t been identified.
