Man charged with murder in Kansas City double shooting during Snapchat marijuana deal

A 19-year-old has been charged in a September homicide in Kansas City that occurred during a marijuana deal arranged over Snapchat, according to prosecutors.

Jordan L. White, of Kansas City, was charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and attempted robbery, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.

On September 21, Kansas City police responded to a double shooting at the View High Lake Apartments in the 9800 block of Willow Avenue.

Robiell Avila, 20, was transported to a hospital where he died. The second victim suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, prosecutors said.

A third victim told investigators that they had arrived at the apartment complex after using Snapchat to buy marijuana.

A man entered the backseat of the vehicle and robbed him at gunpoint. Then a second suspect began shooting from outside the vehicle, hitting the driver and front passenger.

White was identified from pictures posted on social media, prosecutors said, and then in two photo lineups.

During questioning, White said he had not been to the apartment complex where the shooting took place for several months and asked for an attorney.
