Lawrence man shot with gun burglarized from his own home, police say

A man was shot Monday in Lawrence by a burglar who had stolen a gun from the man’s home, according to police.

Police responded to the incident just before 4 p.m. in the 2300 block of Wakarusa Drive, according to the Lawrence Police Department. The man said he had returned home and found another man attempting to burglarize the residence.

As the burglar fled, he fired a weapon he had taken from the man’s home.

The firearm was left on the premises, police said.

The man was transported to a hospital with injuries police said did not appear to be life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.
