Car spotted leaving Leawood homicide scene is sought by Metro Squad

Police investigating a homicide in Leawood said Monday they are looking for a dark-colored Dodge Challenger seen leaving the apartment complex where the shooting occurred.

The shooting Friday night left one man dead and another with gunshot injuries, according to the Leawood Police Department. The Kansas City-area Metro Squad is investigating the homicide, Leawood’s first of the year.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Leawood at State Line Apartments, near West 138th Street and Kenneth Road. Zachary Morrisey, 24, of Kansas City, was sitting in a vehicle when someone walked up to it and began shooting, police said.

Morrisey was killed. A second victim injuredin the shooting drove himiself and Morrisey to a local urgent care center.

Two cars were seen leaving the complex moments after the shooting, according to investigators.

There have been no arrests and no suspect information was released by police Monday.
