One dead after shooting at Bellefontaine Avenue near 35th Street

Kansas City police are investigating a homicide after a man was fatally shot inside a home on Bellefontaine Avenue near 35th Street Saturday morning.

Police have identified the victim as Calvin Booker, 31.

Officers responded to a shooting call around 9:20 a.m. Saturday. Arriving officers found Booker dead inside the home.

Police took the man who called 911 into custody for questioning about his involvement. The investigation is ongoing.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The shooting is the 148th homicide in Kansas City this year according to data kept by The Star which includes fatal police shootings.

The shooting was just blocks from the location of a fatal shooting Sunday in a home in the 3900 block of Bellefontaine Avenue.
