Kansas City gets another budget flight back after Spirit shutdown
An additional flight to an East Coast destination is on its way to Kansas City from a budget airline.
Frontier Airlines announced that it will launch a new nonstop flight option from Kansas City International Airport to Orlando International Airport.
Officials with KCI said in a statement that Orlando is the second-most popular route to/from the airport, with more than 1,000 travelers moving between the cities every day.
The flight will one of a few options for Kansas City travelers to get to Orlando, since there are daily nonstop flights to the destination through Southwest Airlines.
“This route adds another option to take travelers to The Sunshine State to experience relief from winter weather as well as a year-round connection to one of the U.S.’s major family tourism destinations,” KCI said.
KCI recently had a winter seasonal flight option to Orlando through Delta Airlines, but its last flight took to the skies April 11.
The route will run four times a week all year round. It comes after a similar route was lost when Spirit Airlines shut down in May. Flights to Orlando through Frontier begin Nov. 20.
KCI is getting another nonstop flight as well. Frontier recently announced that it’s adding an option to take travelers from Kansas City to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
