After Spirit shutdown, Frontier adds flight to top destination from Kansas City
When Spirit Airlines shut down in May, it eliminated a budget airline that took Kansas City travelers to vacation destinations like Nashville, Las Vegas and Miami through nonstop flights. Now, another budget airline is stepping in to take its place on one of those routes.
Frontier Airlines announced that it’s launching eight new routes previously operated by Spirit starting this week. The routes span all across the U.S. and include major metropolitan areas such as Boston, Detroit and Dallas.
Kansas City International Airport gets another nonstop flight to take travelers to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, according to Frontier. The frequency of the flights is four times a week, and its introductory fare starts at $69 until Sunday, July 12, for flights booked between Aug. 3 through Sept. 2.
“We are pleased to grow our service across the country to ensure low-cost flight options remain available to consumers as they plan their travel this summer and beyond,” said Josh Flyr, Frontier’s vice president of network and operations design, in a statement. “With premium upgrades paired with our signature affordability, we are thrilled to show travelers why we are America’s Low Fare Airline.”
The returning option from Frontier joins Southwest Airlines as a nonstop option for travelers flying from Kansas City to Las Vegas.
