Man shot and killed Thursday at Kansas City, Kansas, apartment complex

Update: The deceased has been identified as Erik Johnson-Linares, 21.

A man died in a shooting at Kansas City, Kansas, apartment complex Thursday night, according to police.

Officers responded to the Terrace Pointe Apartments, 641 S. 71 Terrace, around 5 p.m. Thursday, according to Officer T.J. Tomasic, a Kansas City, Kansas Police Department spokesperson.

When officers arrived, they found a man outside a home with multiple gunshot wounds, Tomasic said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

No suspect has been publicly identified. KCKPD is still investigating the shooting, Tomasic said.

Thursday’s shooting was the seventh homicide reported in Kansas City, Kansas, this year, according to data collected by The Star. At this time last year, six homicides had been reported in the city, according to Star data.
