Man with gunshot wounds found dead in a Kansas City, Kansas street
One man was killed in a shooting near Jersey Creek Park in in Kansas City, Kansas, Tuesday night.
Officers responded around 10:42 to the area of North 7th Street and Parallel Parkway after reports of a person lying in the street. They found a man with apparent gunshot wounds in the road.
Paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene, said Nancy Chartrand, a spokeswoman with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.
Chartrand said police are investigating the incident as a homicide. Police were gathering evidence and canvassing for witnesses to determine what led up to the shooting.
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
The killing is the 19th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas of 2024, according to data maintained by The Star. At this time last year, the city had recorded 18 homicides.
