June is LGBTQ Pride Month, and celebrations are happening all over Kansas City. Check out our 2022 Pride guide below. Did we miss an event? Let us know at kcq@kcstar.com.

June 1: Fundraiser Cocktail Party for Ukraine

Time: 6 p.m.

Cost: Free

Hosted by the LGBTQ group Palace Parties, this cocktail party will feature raffle prizes, a live violinist and opportunities to donate and support members of the queer community in Ukraine. The party will take place in Nido Clubhouse at 706 Pennway St.

June 1: Bar K Pride Month Celebration

Time: 6 to 9 p.m.

Cost: Free for members and people without dogs, $10 for the first dog, and $5 for additional dogs

The evening event will include a drag performance, drink specials, cake and cookies from Three Dog Bakery, a raffle and more. Proceeds from a special Pride Haven Punch cocktail will go to Pride Haven, an overnight shelter for LGBTQ young people.



June 2-30: Womontown film screening at Kansas City Museum

Time: 10:15 a.m. Thursdays-Saturdays; 12:15 p.m. Sundays

Cost: Free

This short documentary tells the story of a women-run community developed by queer women in Longfellow during the 1990’s. The Kansas City Museum will show this documentary throughout the month of June in the third-floor JE Dunn Construction Theater. No ticket is required to see the film, which runs 27 minutes long.

June 3-5: First Friday queer art gallery at the Nido Clubhouse

Time: Friday and Saturday 4 to 9 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: Free

Stop by 706 Pennway St. any day during the first weekend of June to admire artwork by five local queer artists. Alcohol will be available to purchase, but admission to the gallery is free.

June 4: Brunch with Quez & Friends Pride Edition at Soiree Steak & Oyster House

Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: You can reserve a table for four for $65, a table for six for $150 and a table for 10 for $220.

The brunch event will highlight several local Black-led LGBTQ organizations, including the Trans Empowerment Society, Lyfestyle Entertainment, Blaq Out and Operation Liberation. It will also showcase musical artists and acts in the community including D and the House of Alain Mikli, JoJo, and Cherayla Haynes.

June 4: Pride Night with KC Current at Children’s Mercy Park, KCK

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Cost: Varies

The Current is hosting a Pride Night game against San Diego Wave FC. A special Pride fanny pack will be available for purchase alongside tickets. Purchase tickets here and the pride pack deal here.

June 4: Pride-themed Bear Bust at Hamburger Mary’s

Time: 9 p.m.

Cost: $5

Following this lively restaurant’s weekly Dinner with the Divas at 7 p.m., Hamburger Mary’s will host a pride-themed party with DJs, dancers and more. The event is 21+ and there will be a $5 cover charge at the door.

June 5: Rainbow Bingo at Boulevard Brewing Company

Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cost: Free

This fun morning of bingo will benefit Pride Haven and Our Spot KC. The event will take place at Boulevard’s Tours and Recreation Center at 2534 Madison Ave.

June 5: They/Them: An exhibition of non-binary artists, makers, and vendors at Manor Records

Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cost: Local vegan chef Montana McKenzie who runs the pop-up Spicy Moon Foods is hosting a makers market to celebrate non-binary artists in KC this Pride month. The event will include a vegan biscuits and gravy brunch, live music, poetry, jewelry, artwork, zines, vintage clothing and coffee at Manor Records at 401 N 6th St. in Strawberry Hill.

June 5: Pride Youth Mixer @ The Black Box

Time: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cost: Free

This youth-oriented mixer brings together children aged 10 to 15 to celebrate pride in a safe and fun environment. Expect snacks, guest speakers, and a bar for parents aged 21 and above. The Black Box is located at 1060 Union Ave. in the West Bottoms.

June 9: Pride Night at Kauffman Stadium

Time: Gates open at 6 p.m., game starts at 7:10 p.m.

Cost: $20+

Purchase a special Pride-themed ticket to watch the Kansas City Royals play the Baltimore Orioles at Kauffman Stadium on June 9, and you’ll receive a free rainbow fanny pack. Pick yours up at Gate A before the game by showing your Pride ticket. You can buy tickets here starting at $20.

June 9: Proclaiming Pride at Community Christian Church

Time: 7 p.m.

Cost: Free

This multifaith service will dicuss queer spirituality through stories, songs, prayer and reflection. It is open to all faith groups as well as those of no religion. While the hour-long service will be hosted by a Christian church, there is no expectation for attendees to connect with Christianity. The service will be followed by a social hour to connect with new friends and community organizations. You can RSVP here.

June 10-12: Kansas City Pride Festival in Theis Park

Time: Friday 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: $5

This weekend-long festival brings together vendors, nonprofit groups, food trucks, giveaways and more to celebrate Pride weekend in Kansas City. Kids 12 and under get in free, and free parking is available around the Plaza, as well as UMKC’s Cherry Street garage. Read more about the festival on its FAQ page.

June 11: Kansas City Pride Parade

Time: 11 a.m.

Cost: Free

This festive event will begin in Westport and march down Broadway Boulevard and Mill Creek Parkway before heading east on 47th Street and ending at Theis Park, just east of the Plaza. The parade is free to attend and will feature a variety of community and performance groups. Be sure to check out the Pride festival at the end of the parade route!

June 11-12: ‘Unbreakable’ Heartland Men’s Chorus Concert

Time: 8 p.m. Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday

Cost: $20 to $70

The Heartland Men’s Chorus of Kansas City presents Unbreakable, the newest musical by Broadway’s Andrew Lippa. The 75-minute concert will explore pivotal moments in queer history and celebrate the resilience of the LGBTQ community. Buy tickets here.

June 15: Drag Night at Boulevard Brewing Company

Time: 6 to 9 p.m.

Cost: $10, includes a free cocktail

This midweek event will feature local favorites Candice Marie, Didi C and more. The event will take place at Boulevard’s Tours and Recreation Center at 2534 Madison Ave., and will benefit Pride Haven and Our Spot KC.

June 17-19: Pride after Pride at Art Garden KC

Time: Friday 5 to 9 p.m, Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cost: Free

Enjoy a makers’ market, drag entertainment, food trucks and more at this family-friendly community event all weekend long. All makers featured at the market are members of the LGBTQ community.

June 18: Drag Royalty Storytime for Kids at Kansas City Museum

Time: Sessions start at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Cost: Free for kids under 16, $15 for age 16+

Dress up in your favorite costume and enjoy stories, performances and a dance party with drag queen Candice Marie and other special guests. This event is particularly recommended for young children from birth through fifth grade. Purchase tickets here.

June 18: Family-Friendly Drag Brunch at Chicken N Pickle

Time: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Cost: $10, includes 5 raffle tickets; $5 for kids

This fun all-ages event will feature drag queens Lana Luxx, Regina La-Rae and host Aria Queer. The event will benefit Pride Haven and attendees will be entered into a 50/50 raffle. Purchase tickets here.

June 18: Pride Bar Crawl in the Crossroads

Time: 6 to 10 p.m.

Cost: $15-20

Enjoy special deals at seven local bars during this fun evening event. Check-in starts at 4 p.m. at John’s Big Deck downtown, and attendees can enjoy drink specials and waived cover fees at all seven locations. Tickets are $20 for individuals or $15 per person for groups of four or more. Learn more about the event and buy tickets here.

June 24: Pride Shabbat Service at Congregation Beth Torah

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Cost: Free

Led by an openly gay rabbi, this affirming Jewish congregation celebrates Pride Month every year with a special Pride-themed Shabbat service. This year’s will feature music by the congregation’s band and choir, and a light dinner will be served afterwards. For more information, you can call the synagogue at 913-498-2212.

June 25: Pride on Vine 2.0 at 18th & Vine

Time: noon to 1 a.m.

Cost: $18-25

Located at The Velvet Freeze Daiquiris at 1827 Vine St., this pride celebration headlined by Fly Boi Keno will last late into the night and feature performances, artists, food trucks, vendors and more. You can buy tickets here.
