Major craft retailer Joann Fabrics is shutting down all its 800 stores, including five in the Kansas City area.

The company announced that it was going out of business Monday.

The spots in the Kansas City area are:

  • 2201 NW Barry Road
  • 11401 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park
  • 11215 W. 63rd St. in Shawnee
  • 3810 S. Crackerneck Road in Independence
  • 1153 E. North Ave. in Belton

“JOANN leadership, our Board, advisors and legal partners made every possible effort to pursue a more favorable outcome that would keep the company in business,” a company statement obtained by USA Today reads. “We are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on all our stakeholders.”

A timeline for the closings has not been announced.

Joann will be rolling out closing sales at all its stores, according to USA Today. The company was sold to retail liquidator GA Group, and all its remaining assets will be auctioned.

The announcement comes shortly after the company filed for bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year. Joann initially announced that it would be closing more than half its stores, which included the Independence and Belton locations.
