Fast food restaurant closes in Johnson County just two years after entering KC market
Illinois-based Beef-A-Roo has just closed its Overland Park location — the only one in the Kansas City metro.
A sign outside the restaurant, 9500 W. 135th St., announced its closure.
“While we have enjoyed our time in your beautiful city, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to close this location,” the sign read. “Hope to see you again soon!”
The company did not immediately respond to The Star’s requests for comment Monday.
The restaurant, which was open for less than two years, served roast beef sandwiches, burgers, chicken sandwiches, cheese curds and more.
“We want to take this product that is very niche and popular ... and bring it to everybody else,” CEO Matt Riddle said at the time of the location’s opening.
Beef-A-Roo originated in Rockford, Illinois, in 1967.
Last year, St. Louis-based roast beef restaurant Lion’s Choice announced that it would close four locations, leaving only its Liberty spot at 129 S. Stewart Road in operation.
