Local taqueria is moving into space after fast food restaurant closed JoCo location
Taco Republic, a locally owned taqueria, will take the former Arby’s spot in Corinth Square.
Taco Republic first opened in mid-2013 at Mission and County Line roads in Kansas City, Kansas. It also has a food truck.
The menu includes barbacoa bowls, fajitas, chicken enchiladas, smothered burritos, a Baja chopped salad, and a variety of “street tacos” with beef, pork, chicken, fish or vegetables.
The new Prairie Village location also will have a spacious lawn area with family-friendly outdoor games and activities under string lights.
In early 2019, Whitney VinZant, founder and owner of Louie’s Wine Dive, formed two companies to purchase two restaurant concepts from locally owned Bread & Butter Concepts — BRGR Kitchen + Bar and Taco Republic.
BRGR Kitchen + Bar has a location in Corinth Square, as well as the Power & Light District. It recently closed a Leawood location.
VinZant plans to open the Prairie Village Taco Republic in spring 2021. In a statement, he said, “We hope to bring a fun atmosphere for families and friends to enjoy together for years to come.”
He declined further comment.
Arby’s closed at 4100 W. 83rd St., Prairie Village, in August after nearly three decades.
