Johnson County fast-food restaurant closes after nearly three decades at location
Nearly three decades ago, Arby’s took the freestanding former McDonald’s building in Corinth Square.
Now that location, at 4100 W. 83rd St. in Prairie Village, is closed.
A sign on the door says it permanently closed Aug. 22: “The business economics of the restaurant were no longer favorable.”
It directed customers to the Mission and Overland Park locations. Arby’s is known for its sandwiches, including roast beef, chicken and Reuben.
Cas Banaszek, spokesman for the franchise group, said it was subleasing from McDonald’s. The lease was up in September and negotiations fell through.
McDonald’s had relocated to a spot where it could add a drive-thru. Arby’s then opened in 1992 and later got an ordinance changed so it could have a drive-thru in the spot, according to The Kansas City Star archives.
