Mizzou lands commitment from Louisiana defensive end
Missouri landed the 13th known prospect in its 2017 recruiting class Sunday when Hammond (La.) defensive end Chris Turner committed via Twitter.
Turner, who visited Columbia this weekend and was in attendance for the Tigers’ 26-17 win against Vanderbilt on Saturday, said he’s “100% committed” in a message announcing his decision.

Turner, a Rivals two-star prospect, is listed at 6-feet-4 and 225 pounds, plays with a high motor and shows excellent pursuit in his high school highlight reel.
He also appears to play in a read-and-react style scheme, which Mizzou used to start 2016 but abandoned midway through the season.
Turner had several dozen offers, but mostly from non-Power Five programs — schools such as Ball State, Louisiana Tech, Southern Illinois and Tulane.
He is the Tigers’ first defensive-line commitment for 2017 and only the fourth defensive player.
Missouri previously secured commitments from linebackers Jamal Brooks — who welcomed Turner on Twitter and posted a photo from their visit together — and Aubrey Miller and defensive back Joshuah Bledsoe.
