Kansas man is found guilty of killing grandmother, uncle after no-contest plea
A Pittsburg, Kan., man accused of killing his missing grandmother and uncle in 2016 has pleaded no contest to the charges and was found guilty by a judge Wednesday, the state attorney general announced.
David P. McNabb, 32, was charged with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder, felony theft and interference with law enforcement.
McNabb was arrested in the fall of 2016 after the bodies of his 87-year-old grandmother, Betty McNabb, and his uncle, 65-year-old Kenneth McNabb, were found buried on a rural property west of Pittsburg.
The victims, who were mother and son, had been reported missing by family members on Nov. 11, 2016, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Authorities suspected foul play.
Family members there had found what appeared to be blood on the floor in the hallway and in a bedroom, according to KOAM. The television station also reported that Kenneth McNabb's vehicle was missing from the home.
McNabb was questioned early on in the investigation, and arrested on suspicion of murder.
The bodies of his grandmother and uncle were found five days later more than 50 miles away from their rural Pleasanton, Kan., home.
According to a court document obtained by KOAM, Betty McNabb appeared to have been struck in the head with a blunt object. Kenneth McNabb was shot three times — once in the chest and two times in the neck, court records said.
McNabb is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 5 in Linn County, Kan., District Court.
