Teenage girl shot and killed in KCK’s third fatal drive-by shooting this week

Kansas City, Kan. police are investigating a drive-by shooting Friday that left a teenage girl dead and another person injured.

The shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Freeman Drive.

Officers called to the scene found the teen dead from gunfire.

Police did not immediately identify the girl or release information about suspects or a possible motive.

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s major case unit is investigating the homicide.

The incident marked the third fatal drive-by shooting in the city this week. Kevin E. Gonzalez, 21, was killed on Wednesday and Natasha Hays, 36, was killed on Tuesday.

Kansas City, Kan., police said a press conference about the recent killings will be held at police headquarters Saturday at 3 p.m.

The death was the 25th homicide recorded this year in Kansas City, Kan. The metropolitan area has seen 115 homicides in 2016.
