Police investigate homicide after man’s body discovered in south Kansas City

Kansas City police are investigating a homicide after a man’s body was found Friday afternoon in a wooded area near Bannister Road and Lydia Avenue.

Officers went to the area with an ambulance crew about 4 p.m.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide. No other details were immediately available.

The death marks the 70th homicide in Kansas City this year. The metropolitan area has recorded 108 killings in 2016.
