Man is found shot to death in a car in Kansas City, Kan.
Police were investigating a homicide Sunday morning after a man was found shot to death in a car near the Gateway Plaza Townhomes in northeast Kansas City, Kan.
Police responded to the shooting about 8:50 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Fifth Street, said Officer Jonathon Westbrook, a Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman.
Officers found the man dead from gunshot wounds in the car. About a dozen evidence markers commonly used to identify the location of bullet casings were distributed near the vehicle.
Westbrook said the victim was a man who appeared to be in his 20s. Police have not yet identified him.
Police had no information about a suspect. Detectives canvassed the area looking for witnesses.
"Hopefully through our evidence collection we're going to find out who did this and find the motive behind it and bring justice to this individual," Westbrook said.
The killing was the 15th homicide reported in Kansas City, Kan., this year.
