KC police investigate homicide after man shot while leaving gym off Ward Parkway

Kansas City police are investigating a Wednesday night homicide where witnesses say a man leaving Genesis Health Club was shot and killed.

Officers were called to the area of 87th Street and Ward Parkway at 9:45 p.m. They found the victim, believed to be in his late 20s, lying on the sidewalk. He soon was pronounced dead, according to police.

Witnesses told officers that when the man exited the health club, which is in the Ward Parkway Center, a man wearing a white shirt shot him. The suspect then left in a dark-colored vehicle, police said.
