15-year-old shooting victim’s sister was also slain last year in KCK
A 15-year-old shot and killed Thursday night in Kansas City, Kan., is the brother of a 15-year-old girl killed last year.
Brandon Browne was shot once in the chest while on a porch in the 2000 block of North Tremont Street. Police found him shot to death about 9:30 p.m. after responding to a call.
According to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department, Brandon was seriously injured in a shooting last summer.
Brandon is the brother of Brannae Browne, a 15-year-old girl killed last year in a shooting in the 500 block of Freeman Drive in Kansas City, Kan.
Some media reports previously spelled Brannae’s last name without the “e,” but according to family members, Browne is the correct spelling.
Brandon and Brannae’s mother, Shanta Barnett, on Friday declined through family members to comment about her children’s deaths.
Brannae was sitting on a stoop with a cousin and his girlfriend when they were shot Sept. 2. The cousin was also but survived.
Michael Adams Jr. was charged with Brannae’s killing. Adams is the teen son of Natasha Hays, who was shot and killed last August during a drive-by shooting in the 2400 block of North Ninth Street in Kansas City, Kan.
Brannae died just three days after Hays’ death. The assault on Brannae was described as retaliation in court records in Adams’ case.
Adams has an October trial date.
No arrests have been made in the deaths of Hays or Brandon.
