A double shooting Thursday in Kansas City is now a homicide investigation after authorities announced Friday that a man injured in the shooting was dead.

The shooting near 104th Street and Holmes also injured a woman in a car with the victim, who was shot in the head. The woman, who was reportedly shot in the shoulder, is expected to survive.

Police did not release a motive, but local media reports indicate a road rage incident sparked an argument that led to the shooting.

The death was the city’s 46th homicide of 2017, according to an online database that tracks homicides.

The shooting was one of three Thursday and the second double shooting of the day.

Eight people were shot between Wednesday and Friday in Kansas City, including another homicide Wednesday that claimed the life of 28-year-old Antonio C. Hughes of Kansas City.

No charges have been announced in any of the shootings.
