Woman facing murder charges in the death of 2-year-old Gardner girl

A 24-year-old woman was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the February death of a 2-year-old Gardner girl.

Lindsey Nichole Thomasson is charged with killing Presley Porting while committing or attempting to commit child abuse between Feb. 5 and Feb. 7, according to the criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Johnson County District Court.

The little girl died on Feb. 7 after being found unresponsive inside her father’s house in the 400 block of South Hickory Street.

Gardner police said that Thomasson lived at the house with Presley and her father at the time of the girl’s death. Her current address is listed on jail records in Ottawa, Kan.

Bond for Thomasson was set at $2 million. Her initial court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
