Two people killed in separate overnight shootings in Kansas City, Kan.
Two people were fatally shot in separate incidents late Sunday night and early Monday morning in Kansas City, Kan.
Police said the first shooting occurred about 11:45 p.m. Sunday near Sixth Street and Stewart Avenue in northeast Kansas City, Kan.
Police responding to reports of a shooting found the 16-year-old male victim. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
The second shooting occurred about 3:20 a.m. Monday near Second Street and Walker Avenue, also in northeast Kansas City, Kan.
A man in his 30s was found inside a residence. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead later Monday. One person was in custody in that incident, police said.
The latest homicides were the city’s 33rd and 34th of the year. So far, the Kansas City area has seen 145 homicides in 2016.
