A tire shop owner has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a man reportedly found dead inside a stolen vehicle.

Celestino Zavala-Ruiz is charged with second-degree murder in the death of David Burkin. The Wyandotte County district attorney’s office announced the charges Wednesday.

Burkin was allegedly shot in front of Zavala Tire Service, a business that Zavala-Ruiz ran at 954 Argentine Blvd.

Kansas City, Kansas police responded to an accident shortly before midnight Sunday and found Burkin inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound.

According to court records, police were able to determine that Burkin was shot in front of Zavala Tire Service.

Zavala-Ruiz is being held at the Wyandotte County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
