Owners of south KC strip mall with Coach’s Bar & Grill won’t rebuild after floods
Coach’s Bar & Grill in Kansas City will not reopen at its current location because the flooded strip mall where the sports bar is located will not be rebuilt.
Coach’s was among businesses along 103rd Street and Wornall Road heavily damaged July 27 by floodwaters that swept through the area.
Its future had been murky until Tuesday.
“Well, it is official,” read a post on the business’ Facebook page. “The shops along 103rd will not be rebuilt.”
Brian Darby, who became co-owner three months ago after his father, Mike, was found slain on the Indian Creek Trail, penned the post. He said the decision was made by the property owners of his location “after 6 floods over the years and all the damage.”
Darby hinted about the possibility of a reincarnated Coach’s in the future.
“We will keep you all posted as things get figured out,” he wrote. “We do not want this to be the end, but hope for a new beginning for all of us and the Coach’s family.”
