How cool is this? Kansas City gets a break from usual hot, muggy start to August

After one of the wettest Julys on record, Kansas City is likely in for a dry and pleasant weekend, said FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank in a weather update for The Star.

“Normally we’d see the first week of August be pretty hot and pretty humid,” Frank said. “That’s not the case.”

Instead, Frank said, he anticipates high temperatures to stay in the low 80s and high 70s with low humidity and few chances of rain.

The high temperature Saturday, he said, is 82 degrees. On Sunday, he expects temperatures to rise to 79 degrees.

There is a slight chance of rain on Sunday morning, Frank said, though he doesn’t expect it to be a large storm.

Heading into the work week, Frank expects the weather to stay about the same.

This comes after lots of rain in the last few days. In July, Frank said, Kansas City got 10 inches of rain.

This is the fifth wettest July on record, he said, and brings the area to 3 inches above average for this time of year.
