Leavenworth man killed in Platte County crash with semi truck

A 55-year-old Leavenworth, Kansas, man was killed in a Platte County, Missouri, crash involving a semi truck Thursday evening.

A 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading west about 5:13 p.m. Thursday on Missouri 92 Highway near Hackberry Lane when it crossed into the eastbound lane, colliding with a 1996 Peterbilt semi truck, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

According to the sheriff’s office, alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
