Four years later and actor Henry Winkler is still waiting.

Winkler, who shot to fame when he played Fonzie on “Happy Days” in the 1970s and has had a number of noteworthy roles since, is a big fan of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. During a visit to “The Rich Eisen Show” in 2022, Winkler invited Mahomes and his wife, Current co-owner Brittany Mahomes, to dinner at his home.

When the Chiefs played the Chargers later that year, Winkler got to meet Mahomes at SoFi Stadium. But that meal at Winkler’s California home has yet to happen.

We know that because Winkler was back on “The Rich Eisen Show” Wednesday.

“So I got to meet, you know, because of you, I got to meet the great Patrick Mahomes,” said Winkler, who wore a Chiefs T-shirt. “The man never has come to my house for dinner.”

Eisen noted that Mahomes and the Chiefs didn’t play in Los Angeles last season because the Chargers’ home game was in Brazil.

“Is there a thing called off-time?” Winkler asked, but it was clear he’s not actually peeved. “But anyway, I am thrilled. I have his jersey.”

The Chiefs play twice in L.A. in the upcoming season, with a game against the Rams in December and a meeting with the Chargers in January.

It would be quite difficult for Mahomes to break away from the team on those trips, and that seemed to placate Winkler. Mahomes’ knee injury saddened him, however.

“He is wonderful. I am so sorry he got hurt,” Winkler said. “I want to tell you something. I know that the man was never Bar Mitzvahed, because honestly, anybody else being that hurt, playing that hard, I cannot imagine it. I would just fall to the turf and cry.”

Winkler also talked about Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. It turns out that Winkler’s son, Max, directed Kelce in five episodes of the FX show, “Grotesquerie.”
