The trailer for the fourth season of ‘Ted Lasso’ includes a quick nod to KC
The sneak peek of the fourth season of “Ted Lasso” showed the main characters at Gates Bar-B-Q, which was fitting considering some of the series was filmed in Kansas City.
We got our first look at a trailer Tuesday for the Emmy Award-winning comedy on Apple TV, which will return Aug. 5. We already know that Ted Lasso, played by Shawnee Mission West graduate/Big Slick co-host Jason Sudeikis, will be coaching a women’s team in England.
There didn’t appear to be any moments that showed the characters in Kansas City in that trailer, but there is a subtle nod to our fine city. Here are three things that stood out about the trailer.
1. Rebecca’s love interest returns
Rebecca Welton is the owner of the AFC Richmond soccer team and as the result of a mishap toward the end of Season 3, she met a man named Matthijs. The two shared a magical evening that didn’t involve them sleeping together.
In the trailer, we see Matthijs has returned.
2. Tracey Ullman joins the cast
Actress, singer and comedian Tracey Ullman is joining the cast this season in an unspecified role.
You may recall that “The Simpsons” was born out of the “Tracey Ullman Show.”
3. Keeley and Roy?
The end of Season 3 of “Ted Lasso” seemed to hint at a reconciliation between Keeley Jones, played by Juno Temple, and Roy Kent, the Richmond men’s coach portrayed by Brett Goldstein.
The new trailer shows they are certainly back together.
Here is the trailer and check out the Kansas City hat that Keeley is wearing toward the end.
