Chiefs’ Kareem Hunt found redemption after encouragement from Travis Kelce
Things looked particularly bleak for the Chiefs on Sunday early in the fourth quarter.
Trailing by 11, the Chiefs were driving for a potential touchdown when running back Kareem Hunt fumbled and the ball was recovered by Indianapolis at its 6-yard line.
It was the Chiefs’ first lost fumble in 20 games, the longest streak in the NFL since the New York Giants in 1960, as CBS Sports noted during the broadcast. Hunt was furious with himself on the sideline.
But Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was having none of it.
Video showed Kelce give Hunt a giant hug following the fumble and he seemed to offer some encouraging words.
Hunt found redemption following the turnover when he scored a touchdown on the Chiefs’ next drive with a dive into the end zone.
And in overtime, Hunt carried the ball five times for 23 yards on the game-winning drive that ended with Harrison Butker’s field goal.
