The Chiefs’ 23-20 win over the Colts on Sunday was a throwback of sorts.

It was quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ first comeback win of the season. Before this year, a double-digit Chiefs deficit was obviously concerning to fans, but they usually believed Mahomes could lead the team back to victory.

For good reason.

Mahomes is the only quarterback in NFL history to have a winning record in games where his team trails by double digits, including the postseason. He added to that impressive feat Sunday.

The Chiefs trailed Indianapolis by 11 points in the fourth quarter, but they scored on three of their last four possessions in the final period and overtime. Doug Clawson of CBS Sports noted Mahomes has a 20-18 record in games when the Chiefs trailed by 10 or more points.

Josh Dubow, a writer for the Associated Press, shared a list with the records for quarterbacks when their team trailed by double digits since 1950. Tom Brady is fourth.

Patrick Mahomes: .526 Tim Tebow: .455 Otto Graham: .412 Tom Brady: .378

Tebow was 5-6 when his team trailed by 10 or more points, Dubow said. If you were wondering, his overall quarterback record was 9-7, including the playoffs.

Mahomes got his 20th fourth-quarter comeback and the 24th game-winning drive of his career, according to Pro Football Reference.
