The 1587 Prime steakhouse from Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce is still under construction, but reporters this week got a look at the work being done inside the Loews Hotel.

Noble 33 is partnering with Kelce and Mahomes on the restaurant, which will have a subtle football theme. VIP guests are expected to be dining at the steakhouse.

Sacha Tanha, director of hospitality for Noble 33, told The Star that Mahomes and Kelce asked for a private dining room with a discreet entrance. And the two-story restaurant will include a room with one-way glass.

1587 Prime announced on Instagram that it is hiring for 14 positions, including one that will be tasked with dealing with high-profile diners. That would be the Maitre d’.

This is a portion of the job description for that position: “The Maitre d’ reports to the General Manager and is responsible for managing, training and development of the host stand and the smooth flow and operation of special event VIP bookings of a single restaurant. Works with the General Manager and Executive Chef in planning special events and special VIPs as well as a plan to grow the business, drive sales and manage costs.”

The restaurant won’t be exclusively for high-profile patrons. Mahomes has previously said he doesn’t want the restaurant to be too upscale. He and Kelce want to ensure that “Kansas City can call it home and that everybody can be there and really enjoy it.”

The restaurant also is seeking a sommelier.

This is part of that job description: “Attention all wine enthusiasts! We are seeking a dynamic and experienced sommelier to join our team at our exciting high-energy lifestyle restaurant concept. As our sommelier, you will be responsible for curating a unique and extensive wine list that pairs perfectly with our delicious cuisine and appeals to our diverse clientele.

“The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine and a deep understanding of various grape varietals, regions, and production methods. You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with guests, offering expert recommendations and enhancing their dining experience.”

Other jobs the restaurant is looking to fill include a bartender, barback, bar prep, cocktail server, food runner, back server, host, pastry cook, dishwasher, server, prep cook and line cook.
