Ahead of the Women’s College World Series between Texas Tech and Texas, players were asked which celebrity they would want at the championship.

Sophomore infielder Lauren Allred named Tech’s biggest cheerleader.

“I would love to see Patrick Mahomes out here. Yeah, that’d be interesting. It’s great to see the support. We know he’s invested and to be able to have that support is amazing.”

Junior Alana Johnson agreed, saying: “I want him to pull up to a softball game one day.”

That day was Thursday.

Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback, and his wife, Brittany, the KC Current co-owner, were in Oklahoma City for Game 2 of the World Series, which Texas Tech won 4-3.

NiJaree Canady, a junior from Topeka, sealed the victory with a strikeout, and Mr. and Mrs. Mahomes were fired up as ESPN cameras showed.

Canady told ESPN after the game that she was thrilled to have Mahomes at the game.

“It means everything,” she said. “Wreck Em forever! It’s incredible that he’s here.”

Ahead of the Women’s College World Series, Mahomes had sent some swag to the Tech team, and on Thursday he granted the wish of the players by making the trip to Devon Park.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes talked about their love of softball and women’s sports during an in-game interview.

Here is the video of the Tech players talking about how they hoped Mahomes would show up for one of their games.
