The Texas Tech softball team dropped Game 1 of the Women’s College World Series on Wednesday, falling 2-1 to Texas.

Game 2 is Thursday and, if necessary, a deciding third game will be played Friday.

There’s a chance Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will make the trip to Oklahoma City to watch the Red Raiders try and win a national championship.

Mahomes is a fan of all things Tech, and he gifted the softball team some special swag ahead of Game 1.

In a video shared by the Red Raiders softball team on social media, coach Gerry Glasco told the players: “You got a gift from your No. 1 fan, Patrick Mahomes. The goal is he’s trying to get here in person before this series is over, but he said to go ahead and give you this tonight because he wants to make sure you get it.”

The players were thrilled with special Adidas jackets and shoes from Mahomes.

There isn’t a bigger Texas Tech fan than Mahomes.

While shooting a commercial last month, Mahomes used every break to check on the Tech softball team earlier in the postseason.

Mahomes said at the time he was “Locked in!!!”
