Tight end Travis Kelce is definitely returning to the Chiefs. Well, so says ESPN’s Pat McAfee.

Days after the Super Bowl LIX loss to the Eagles, Kelce had said he would take some time to ponder whether to retire or play the last season on his contract.

Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said at the NFL Combine that he expects Kelce to be back for the 2025 season. That prompted McAfee, the former Colts punter, to reach out via text to Kelce.

Here is what McAfee said Thursday on his show: “(The) message was: ‘My dog!!! ... I’m coming back for sure, going to try and get to the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountain top. Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle. I can’t go out like that!!!!.’

“So that’s the Travis Kelce future conversation. I think you can say Travis Kelce is coming back to play football yet again.”

The clip of McAfee talking about Kelce returning to the Chiefs next season was shared all over social media.

A few hours after McAfee read that text from Kelce, the New Heights podcast shared this message on X: “From the desk of @tkelce: ITS TIME FOR YEAR 13

That social-media message said Kelce would talk about his decision to return for the 2025 season next week on the New Heights podcast, which he hosts with brother Jason.
