The Carolina Panthers came into Sunday’s game against the Chiefs ranked dead last in the NFL in total offense, averaging 280.7 yards per game. Their scoring average of 16.7 points a game ranked 30th.

Although the Chiefs came away with a victory Sunday, the Panthers put up 27 points and accumulated 334 yards.

The Chiefs pulled out a 30-27 victory on Spencer Shrader’s 31-yard field goal as time expired. That was the good news.

But Geoff Schwartz, a former Chiefs offensive lineman who has done work for FOX Sports Radio and SiriusXM, offered this observation on X: “Chiefs have a pass defense issue without (Jaylen) Watson. They’ve been torched since then. Teams going after the replacements and the nickel.”

That sentiment was shared by fans, who were uninspired by the defensive unit’s performance at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Here is a bit of what those fans were saying about the defense and Watson’s absence during and after the Chiefs’ victory.
